House[Space]
The Lens

House Space is a lens for seeing houses differently — and for stepping into the building process with clarity.

Every house has a life.
It begins as an idea.
It becomes drawings.
It is assembled from parts.
It forms the spaces we live in.
Over time, it gathers memory.

Most of this remains invisible. We experience the house, but rarely see how it came to be — or understand the decisions that shaped it.

House Space follows the house through each stage of its life, tracing how ideas become buildable drawings, how drawings become physical decisions, and how those decisions shape space over time.

But this is not just observation. Building a house is one of the most significant investments a person can make. The process can feel complex, opaque, and uneven — with different professionals advocating for different priorities.

House Space exists to advocate for the person entering that process. Not by replacing architects or builders.
Not by prescribing solutions.
But by making the system visible.

This is not about style or trends.
It is about literacy. By understanding how houses truly work — from concept to construction, from structure to lived space — you gain the ability to ask better questions, recognise good thinking, and make informed decisions with confidence.

About the Author:
House Space is created by Paul Fellows, an architectural draftsman with more than 30 years of experience across residential design, documentation and construction.

Working between idea and build has provided a clear view of how houses actually come together — and where confusion often arises for those entering the process.

House Space draws on that experience to translate industry thinking into clear, accessible understanding — so that when important decisions arise, they are made with clarity and confidence.
